Millisecond spikes do not read your intentions

Lowering voltage can reduce heat and noise. It can also introduce crashes that appear random because they correlate with shader bursts, not average FPS. Treat every change as an experiment with a written hypothesis.

Undervolting with a margin you can explain

Define stability in sentences, not vibes

Pick concrete workloads: two competitive titles, one open world, and any VR title you run. A pass is zero TDRs across a week of normal use, not a green bar for ten minutes.

Why tight curves fail under bursty power

Games request power faster than human reaction time. Removing margin at the wrong point turns a spike into a reset. Small relaxations often buy more stability than chasing the last millivolt.

One knob per session

Do not pair memory offsets, core offsets, and power slider experiments in the same evening unless you enjoy mystery novels.

Performance trades you might accept

A few percent peak FPS lost for materially quieter fans is a legitimate daily-driver choice. Write down before/after so future-you remembers the bargain.
